February 2007 - Winter Park, Colorado

I love my friends! February, 2007 at Winter Park, Colorado!!! Awesome skiing if you ever get the chance.
This was the first time we took our kids snow skiing. They went to ski school two full days. By the third and fourth day, our oldest was almost out-skiing us. I had a hard time keeping up. She had the "young no fear attitude". While I was cutting back and forth down the hills, she went straight down. As for the two little ones, by the end of the trip, they were loading and unloading by themselves on the ski lifts. Talk about making a mom's heart drop. I watched my children by themselves on the ski lift and making it down the mountain to do it again. The kids will all be out-skiing us in a year or two.
I know that every year the big story is how my honey fell and what he hurt. That was not the case this year. I personally took three huge falls. The one that hurt the most received it's own name, "The No-Air Facey". My skis crossed barely enough to catch the rubber tips and much to my dismay, they held the snowplow position. This brought me to a complete stop in .005 seconds, thus being the "no-air facey". My whole body shot into the snow, my poles dug into my side and I was buried in the snow with only the backs of my skis visible. I must admit it was comical. It hurt severely and the pain got worse daily. I got back home and learned that I had pulled the muscle away from my ribs while creating this wonderful stop. I know you want to try this new stop, but I must say it is one of those things that says in your head, "WARNING WARNING WARNING", right before you hit. It would not be in your best interest even though it sounds soooo fun. This was my worst fall, but not the only one. I need to remember not to laugh at others so hard. It comes back to bite you all at once.
We had a great time with our friends. The 16 hr one-way trip with the kids wasn't too bad. The kids either laughed, slept, laughed, watched movies or laughed. I was worried when we decided to take the kids. This was previously our annual adult only ski trip. I thought they would be hanging on our legs or crying the whole time. I was pleasantly surprised with all the kids. I hope we can do this several times a year with our families and/or friends.
I love our friends, I love their kids and most of all, I love the memories we make together!!!
